Primary Treatment for Gambling Addiction

Primary treatment will usually be between 4 and 6 weeks.

There are a variety of rehab programmes available at The Providence Projects ranging from 4 weeks to 6 months.  Whatever programme you feel is right for you will involve a primary treatment programme.

Primary Treatment at The Providence Projects describes the initial stages of a rehab programme.  On arrival into the primary treatment programme, you can expect to undergo a full assessment and induction programme.  During this, we will be assessing your needs and the areas on which we will ask you to concentrate on during your treatment.

As part of the induction, you will let us know exactly what you want from your primary treatment programme and a treatment plan will be put together by your focal therapist to ensure that we endeavour to address these issues.

On a day to day basis, the primary stages of the rehab programme will consist of a variety of interventions with the aim of:

  • exploring and breaking any denial
  • building self esteem
  • exploring behaviour in relationships
  • identifying potential underlying issues
  • exploring thinking and behaviour through a range of assignments
  • Looking at consequences of the addiction
  • Gaining insight and awareness into addiction and compulsive behaviour
  • Formulation relapse prevention techniques
  • Gaining understanding of the 12 step process

"An unassuming house in the heart of Boscombe where miracles happen. From my initial talk with Paul, the admission process with Jon and my induction with Darryl, I was treated with compassion, empathy and understanding. All the staff had been in the same position as me!...If you are looking for a wealth of experience and knowledge around addiction, a safe environment to turn your life around and a solid foundation for your ongoing recovery you will not be disappointed.”
"Today my husband Paul is 1 year clean and sober thanks to The Providence Projects, he has found himself again and is living the life he deserves. " A life beyond his wildest dreams "… He initially signed up for 1 month but soon realised he needed a further 2 months. Paul has been dedicated and followed the advice given to him. He would not be here today if he hadn't been to The Providence Projects. I cannot thank or praise the program and staff enough…”

Alcohol dependant and a chronic gambler the Provi gave me a platform to turn life around and that it has, meaningful relationships, wonderful friends and most importantly peace of mind. You told me good things would happen and they have - and continue to do so. Highly recommended..."
