Rehab treatment is often the best form of intervention for any addiction. Addictive disorders can take many forms although most commonly, alcohol, drugs or gambling would be the most common presenting issues. However rehab treatment is also available for other addictions including porn, food, gaming and sex. Rehab treatment, as opposed to other forms of treatment, is generally considered to be the most effective for several reasons.
The safe rehab environment ensures that the individual is receiving intensive therapy, enabling change to happen at a far quicker pace than if they were receiving any form of counselling as an out-patient. Rehab treatment programmes can vary in length from one week to one year and will be dependent on many factors but primarily on the needs of the individual. In our opinion, programmes of less than 4 weeks are not rehab treatment but simply detox. Whilst detox is often necessary and part of a longer term plan, it is rarely the solution as without the correct therapy programme and relapse prevention work, the chance of maintaining recovery is poor.
A real rehab treatment programme will start to address the underlying issues, involve family in the rehab process and therefore hugely increase the chance of long term success. At The Providence Projects, our rehab treatment has been developed over 20 years to keep in line with the latest evidence-based techniques ensuring all clients are given the best opportunity to recover from addiction.
